What was your major at Butler? Have you pursued any graduate degrees post-Butler?
International Business. I did take a leadership course, Communicating Strategy, through Dartmouth.
Where are you currently working? Where have you worked before now?
Medline Industries.
Have you worked or traveled internationally since graduation? If yes, where? If not, do you anticipate going abroad in the future?
I have not worked internationally, but have traveled to Peru, Chile, Ireland, France, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Mexico.
Yes! I am planning on traveling abroad at least once a year.
What advice would you give an IB major who is not sure about what they want to do with their major after graduation?
Don’t stress about what you want to do with your major. Look for something - whether it is a job, internship, or education - that you are interested in and you can learn from and gain more skills. Don’t rush into finding the ‘perfect’ job. There are so many opportunities out there!
Are there any skills (soft skills, language skills, communications, etc.) that you would advise that IB majors prioritize while still in school?
Communication skills and leadership skills are key. Employers want you to communicate effectively and take ownership of your work. These two skills will open doors to many opportunities and give you autonomy over your work. A second language is very helpful in some careers. It can only benefit you, but isn't necessary unless you see yourself working directly with another company or country that speaks the second language you know .
